release: JACKSON PARISH DEMOCRATS CHAIR CALLS ON REPRESENTATIVE JACK MCFARLAND TO APOLOGIZE FOR OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR AT STATE CAPITAL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JONESBORO, La – Nick Smith, Chair of the Jackson Parish Democratic Party, issues the following statement after the news that State Representative Jack McFarland, a Republican representing District 13, which includes Jackson Parish, delivered offensive cakes to the Louisiana State Capital:
“Today, we learned of Representative McFarland’s offensive behavior at the Louisiana State Capital by bringing cakes depicting women’s genitalia to celebrate a fellow representative’s birthday. This type of behavior is tremendously immature and unbecoming of the leaders we elect to serve our communities.
“Earlier in the year, Representative McFarland said in committee that women did not deserve equal pay because they are not as reliable as men in the workplace. Unfortunately, Mr. McFarland is unreliable for us in the workplace by demeaning the women he was elected to serve.
“This type of behavior has no place in public office. It is childish, immature and unprofessional. Contrary to Rep. McFarland’s behavior, the State Capital is not a frat or bachelor’s party. We expect far better conduct from our elected officials. The women of House District 13 and Jackson Parish deserve more respect and an immediate apology from Representative McFarland.”
